What is an Allowance Account?
An Allowance Account is like a gift account - you establish a certain amount of money that your child may spend on the Intelligirl Jewelry Maker website to order custom made pieces of jewelry or to buy items from the website store. You get to control the amount of money in the Allowance Account, and only you release personal information.
How does an Allowance Account protect my child under 13?
No child should ever give out personal information online. This includes phone numbers, emails, and land addresses. An Allowance Account is established by a parent, preventing the child from ever having to disclose personal details. Additionally, the parent determines the amount a child may spend.
Can I set up an Allowance Account for a child 13 years of age or older?
Yes, but you must make sure that your child between the ages of 13 and 17 registers using the Under 13 registration form. If your child between the ages of 13 and 17 already has a User Name and Password but didn’t use the Under 13 form when s/he first signed up, your child will have to re-register. Regrettably, any saved art work will be lost when the new Under 13 registration takes place.
When can my child use her Allowance Account?
Your child can use her Allowance Account any time she logs into the Intelligirl Jewelry Maker website.
Will I still be allowed to approve my child’s expenditures?
Yes. Even if your child’s Allowance Account is full, you must approve all purchases by email before the amount of the order is deducted from the Allowance Account balance. If you do not give permission, your child’s order will not be processed.
So, how do I set up an Allowance Account?
It’s easy. Just click here and fill out the simple Allowance Account Set Up Form. You’ll be asked for your address, personal contact information, and your credit card information. You will also select the amount of money you want to “deposit” into your child’s Allowance Account to activate the account.
I established an Allowance Account for my child - now how do I add more funds?
During set-up, you selected a secret Parent Password. You will use your child’s User Name and your secret Parent Password to log in to the Allowance Account area. Next, you’ll re-enter your credit card information, which is never stored by Intelligirl, Inc., and also select the amount of money you want to “deposit” into your child’s account.
Can I cancel an Allowance Account?
Allowance Account balances are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please review our Returns Policy carefully.
What are my legal responsibilities?
When you set up an Allowance Account, you are taking responsibility for the disclosure of information about yourself and your child. You also provide and are responsible for the financial details of the Allowance Account, including allowing the Allowance Account amount selected to be charged immediately to your credit card. Intelligirl, Inc. requires this information to process orders and complete business transactions such as but not limited to sending email notifications, funding your child’s Allowance Account, and processing your child’s orders. You also take full financial and legal responsibility on behalf of your child, including responsibility for your child’s usage of his/her Allowance Account and other website features. You are responsible for your child’s actions and for monitoring your child’s usage of his/her Allowance Account and other features of the Intelligirl website, including but not limited to expenditures.
